Our small, picturesque farm is nestled within the heart of the East Lothian countryside, and ideally situated (approx. 20 minute drive) for access to hill walking, water sports, award winning beaches and several championship golf courses. We are also a mere 30 minute drive from the majestic city of Edinburgh, steeped in culture and history, and the capital city of Scotland since the 15th century.
Since taking on the farm tenancy in 1936, three generations of the Ritchie family have worked the land at Jerusalem Farm and it is now owned and managed by myself and my father who remembers the days of the horse drawn implements and man made hay stacks with great fondness. With some sadness, he recalls also the morning when Roy, the last working horse, left the farm as tractors became the 'workhorses'.
Fast forward through many more changes and into the present day and we have now embarked on the next exciting leg of our journey, with Jerusalem Farm Pods. We began with two luxury glamping pods, launching in August 2022 and have now added a third in April 2024.
Our beautiful pods are hand crafted in Kinross, Scotland and are of a sturdy wooden design. Their curved shape affords them a softer look, allowing them to blend into the natural landscape.
Inside you'll find all you need for a comfortable stay in the midst of nature, without the downsides of camping under canvas. Our queen size beds are perfect for a great nights sleep with bed linen and towels provided. Each pod has its own shower room with toilet and wash hand basin and a kitchen space providing a microwave, induction hob and toaster, along with all the other utensils, crockery and cutlery etc.
A dining area allows for leisurely meals and the large 2 seater sofa is great to lie back on with a good book or to simply absorb the stunning views of the Lammermuir Hills to the south. The pods also have 19" televisions for which you'll require an Amazon Prime log-in. Free wi-fi access is provided, especially important if you are staying in the area for work.
We are both excited and proud to be have been recognised as Superhosts by Airbnb early on in our hosting journey and to have maintained this accolade as we continue to grow. In May '24 we were acknowledged by Airbnb again as being in the top 1% of listings.
We are very happy also to have recently received our first Traveller Review Award from Booking.com, acknowledging our "exceptional dedication" and for "going above and beyond to make our guests feel at home".
Jerusalem Farm provides the ideal space for you to sit back and take stock; to breathe, reflect and immerse yourself in nature. We are very lucky to have some stunning resident wildlife including dear, foxes, owls, badgers, hares and rabbits.
The river Tyne passes along the southern boundary of the farm and is located at the bottom of the field to the south of the pods. You may be lucky enough to spot one or two, and if you look up at the right time you might catch a glimpse of the buzzard or the long legged, long necked heron flying by. Take your book and a flask of coffee; theres a bench at the bottom where you can sit awhile, reading or simply taking in the sounds of moving water and wild bird song.
We have fire pits available too, where you can sit round and cosy up, or use as a grill to barbecue on. Fire pit boxes are available at a cost of £10 each and contain fire lighters, matches, logs and extendable skewers for toasting marshmallows, also provided. These can be booked and paid for on-site. Please note that during very hot, dry weather, firepits and barbecues will not be permitted due to the risk of wildfire.
