Pencaitland is a small village to the west of the farm and has a small general store, petrol station with mini market and Post Office attached. We are ideally placed to host guests attending weddings at nearby Winton Castle, approximately 2 miles away. Don't miss out on the chance to eat at The Winton, beautifully refurbished and serving a menu full of great Scottish produce, a treat for your taste buds.
Glenkinchie a small hamlet just south of Pencaitland is home to Glenkinchie Distillery, one of the Four Corners of Scotland Distilleries of Johnnie Walker. Tours are available and advance booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
Haddington - Whilst visiting the town, why not stroll along the river Tyne, taking in the wildlife and beautiful views of St Mary's Church, the longest Parish church in Scotland, steeped in history. Tours can be booked of Lennoxlove House, just outside Haddington which houses an interesting art collection as well as Mary Queen of Scots death mask.
North Berwick a bustling and unique harbour town with clean sandy beaches, independent artisan shops, gallery, restaurants and cafes is a delight. There are several world renowned golf course in and around North Berwick, including Renaissance Club and Archerfield, a 20 minute drive from Jerusalem Farm Pods. View the iconic Bass Rock, and visit the National Seabird Centre while you wander around the harbour area.
Dunbar, with its rugged coastline, historic fishing industry and beautiful beaches is the sunniest place in Scotland. It's High Street is packed with a variety of shops , cafes and restaurants. Walk down to the harbour and you'll find the ruins of Dunbar Castle, where Robert the Bruce fled to for safety after his victory at Bannockburn in 1314. Later, in 1566, Mary Queen of Scots also saught refuge at Dunbar Castle after the murder of her private secretary David Rizzio. Belhaven Bay is a wide, sweeping beach of golden sand where you can surf and paddleboard and Foxlake Adventures is the ideal place for wake boarding and ringos, try the UK's first ropes course over water and maybe take a Segway ride while you're there too.
